Australian pianist, teacher, and AMEB examiner Anthony van den Broek will be giving a Workshop and Masterclass at ACTKA’s upcoming professional development day. Anthony will outline the fundamentals of the Taubman Approach, a systematic and scientific study of the elements of a healthy, virtuosic piano technique. Anthony will demonstrate how healthy technique can be taught to students at all levels, and focus on transitioning students from intermediate to advanced and virtuoso repertoire.
The Taubman Approach has helped many thousands of pianists around the world deal with technical limitations and injury.

11.00am – 1.00pm– Overview of the principles of the Taubman Approach and healthy technique & Applications of Taubman principles for beginner level student
1.00pm-2.00pm Lunch (provided for full day attendees)
2.00pm-3.15pm Masterclass & Worked examples from the advanced repertoire
3.15pm-3.30pm Afternoon tea (provided for full day attendees)
3.30pm-5.00pm Laying the foundations for advanced repertoire & Q & A and Problem Solving Session (bring a problem, get a solution)

Anthony van den Broek runs a busy piano studio in Sydney, Australia teaching piano, music theory and composition to students of all ages. He has been researching and teaching piano pedagogy for 20 years and is an active solo and chamber musician. Anthony is an AMEB examiner and the Deputy Chair of the NSW AMEB Board.
Anthony has degrees in music, licentiates in piano performance and diplomas in music theory and history. He has a keen interest in the performance practice of music from the Baroque and Classical period and plays harpsichord and organ. Anthony is a certified teacher of the Taubman Approach to piano technique and is in demand as a teacher of concert pianists and a mentor for piano teachers, several who have completed teacher diplomas with a Taubman focus.
